Spring insanity is finally over

I don’t know about other families, but April and May get so incredibly busy for us, and it seemed to be doubly so this year. We didn’t plan to go anywhere for the boys’ spring break, but with a birthday party and a family wedding thrown into the usual mix of all the movies and outings I plan for us every couple of weeks — this spring felt like a neverending frenzy of exhausting weekends.

They finally like dim sum!

The boys have come along way when it comes to dim sum.

When we first brought them, they were very leery of the food that did not look anything like chicken and rice, or noodles, or nuggets. Chris, however, warmed up to it quickly, and was soon devouring everything that had shrimp in it — the har gow, the shrimp balls on sugar canes, the fried won tons. But, Michael and Elliott had a harder time getting into it.

I don’t know if it we have learned what the boys will actually eat (and yes, we do choose places based on what we know they’ll eat, unfortunately), or that they finally learned to enjoy dim sum. Either way, I’m just glad everyone enjoyed themselves for once.

Elliott has a thing for his black hand-me-down Converse lately. So when one came off tonight about 20 minutes before it was time to get ready for bed, I kept dropping his shoe when he pushed it at me repeatedly to get me to put it back on him – because there’s no point in putting a shoe back on that’s about to come off in 20 minutes.
Finally I threw it toward the stairs and he went and got it, and THREW IT AT ME.
My eyes must have gotten scary wide in the way that mom’s eyes do when OH YOU DID IT NOW, because he immediately went all

(Translation: “No, I’m the baby! I shouldn’t get in trouble!”)
