The year began with a blowout
I haven’t blogged in 20 days. Sorry! But, for good reason. I’ll get to that in a minute.
But, yes, literally, the year began with a blowout. We were on the way to church, when the front passenger-side tire (the one right under me; Trinity was driving) of my car blew out on New Year’s Day, Mikey’s 2nd birthday. It was a bit terrifying at the time — I did freeze up a bit, but we were able to get a AAA tow out there to get a donut on, and we continued on to church. Trinity took the car to Wal-Mart, where he got me four new tires (we knew they needed replacing and had been stalling until we had more money…).
Oh, but that wasn’t it. It was Mikey’s birthday of course, so we had plans to take him to Chuck E. Cheese. He was so excited to play, we could barely get him to eat anything. After not having any nap and a full day of hard playing, he looked like this:
The joke was on me
Check out what I wrote last year:
I pray God blesses all who reads this with a wonderful new year pregnant with hope, joy and happy possibilities.
God has a heckuva sense of humor.
One more week of maternity leave
In a way, it seemed like it would never get here, but yes. My last week of maternity leave is upon me. I have mixed feelings, of course, but not in the way you might thing. Maybe I’m just not like other women, but I did not spend my maternity leave cuddling with my baby boy the whole time. He is definitely cuddly, though — he is chubbier than Mikey was at this point, with tree trunk legs and super chub cheeks.
Budget Christmas cards
I love Christmas cards. In fact, I love all manner of physical correspondence — letters, postcards, etc. and I love this time of year because I get photos and cards in the mail! (You might remember Michael’s birth gave me the opportunity to send out birth announcements, whee!) Anyway, I did have a dilemma this year. I’m on maternity leave, so income is iffy, making Christmas card purchases out of the question. Also, I have many photographer friends, but they all like to shoot outside, and Christopher is still too young for an outdoor photo shoot. What to do?
Wedding Decorator redesigned!
It took me most of December, but I finally brought Wedding Decorator into the new decade. I hadn’t redesigned Wedding Decorator since 2008. I think in between 2008 and now, I may have tweaked the header a little, but that doesn’t do much. I’d planned to redesign Wedding Decorator sometime this year, but when it became apparent that, yes, I would definitely be having a baby, the timing was perfect — I’d use some time during my maternity leave to do the redesign.
