The smell of flowers
My husband sent me flowers this week in advance of my birthday. My birthday happens to fall on Memorial Day this year, so hey! I think everyone should take the day off in honor of me!

That Trinity and I are still happy 10 years (2 years dating, 8 years married) later speaks volumes about Trinity’s patience. Me, I’m just glad I was astute enough to recognize a good thing when I saw it.

USA Today front page the day after the Rodney King verdict
I was 14 years old when the verdict came down that the four cops who had beaten Rodney King on live television had been pronounced not guilty. I wasn’t a news nerd just yet, but that didn’t keep me from being glued to the news footage of rioting in L.A. that night.

I was reading an old issue of Vanity Fair, in which George Clooney Daniel Craig and Matt Damon answer this questionnaire. I was reading their answers and thought, “Huh. How would I answer these questions?” Some of them took some major thought on my part. These were the questions George Clooney answered.
