My husband thinks I redesign my blog every six months. While there’s nothing wrong with that (that’s why we love WordPress right?), that has really not been the case, I swear. I just have a certain look in mind, and it changes as I surf blogs and see new things. When I first switched to WP, I loved the idea of three columns. As soon as I had it for six months, I hated it. I tried to use a new theme that might make me love the structure again, but I hated it. I couldn’t keep looking at my three-column blog, so I began looking for single column themes.
I stumbled upon PressPurple, which has a look I love. It’s simple, clean, airy and really quite personal, unlike blogs now that are like diaries with ads now. But as I read about Thematic and how flexible and powerful its framework is, I began to think I could use a child theme to redesign the style of Thematic to look like PressPurple, which I still love.
Two weeks later, a lot of iMac time and The Closer episodes (I like to watch my favorite TV shows as I mess around with CSS) later, I achieved my goal. Thanks for the memories!
The plugins I have learned to love:
Akismet – a plugin that comes standard, but still so good
