*Dear Marvel: Women Want More Avengers T-Shirts

Like most of the known world, I too watched “Avengers: Endgame” this weekend. I laughed, I cried a lot, and came away trying to recall every detail. I didn’t realize I had become such an MCU nerd!

But unlike other MCU nerds, I do not have the gear to reflect it. Why? Because I’m a woman, and Marvel/Avengers T-shirts are severely lacking.

Favorite Christmas comfort movies

My friend Grace and I were discussing some of our favorite Christmas movies earlier today. Turns out she and I have a lot in common when it comes to movies — both of us love Love Actually, Elf and Serendipity — and not in that order. CBSNews.com has a list of some of America’s classic Christmas movies. But is that really it? I’m thinking there’s gotta be more — Home Alone, Bad Santa, The Holiday (which I just saw and you may denigrate as just another chick flick, but I liked it). I know I can’t be the only one wondering this.

Akeelah and the Bee

I watched the Akeelah and the Bee recently and absolutely adored it. There was so much about the movie that I liked — Akeelah’s love for words, her teachers’ confidence in her ability and success, the rousing support of her National Spelling Bee quest by her community — even the local gang bangers and the bullies at her school — and even the childhood romance between Akeelah and Javier was perfectly done. My favorite parts? The gangster telling Akeelah’s brother to stay with her and help her spell (even though bro was supposed to go off with the gangster) and Javier heroically and comically stalling for time so Akeelah would get back to the stage and not get disqualified at the regional spelling bee. “Could you use it in a song?” That was awesome.
