I love Christmas cards. In fact, I love all manner of physical correspondence — letters, postcards, etc. and I love this time of year because I get photos and cards in the mail! (You might remember Michael’s birth gave me the opportunity to send out birth announcements, whee!) Anyway, I did have a dilemma this year. I’m on maternity leave, so income is iffy, making Christmas card purchases out of the question. Also, I have many photographer friends, but they all like to shoot outside, and Christopher is still too young for an outdoor photo shoot. What to do?

Trinity to FoxSports.com
Relief. It’s a far cry from what I felt when Trinity called me on a February afternoon, opening the conversation with, “So, don’t freak out, but…” That’s when he told me the Ventura County Star was phasing out its copy desk and its parent company, Scripps, would create a universal hub out of Corpus Christie in Texas. And, as he told me, I think my mouth was agape and I broke out in a cold sweat as I held 1-month-old Michael. The news freaked me out so much I couldn’t even blog about it!
So I’m happy to report Trinity has not been laid off.

LA County is so efficient*
Via Twitter, I alluded to this last week or so, but only got a chance to scan these documents today after finally convincing Trinity to let me blog this. In a nutshell, the county of Los Angeles is so hard up for cash, they’re going after Trinity for a 7-year-old (or older) library fine. And they’re going after him aggressively — I remember having a fine with L.A. County libraries as well, probably since I was a child, but didn’t get collector’s letters like this.
Yes, that first letter did confuse us and we sort of hemmed and hawed to figure out what we were going to do. But then, two more letters arrived! On the same day!
7 years later…
This is the earliest picture of Trinity and I after we began seeing each other in 2002. Happy anniversary to us!
More Laker game pictures
Here are a few more of those pictures I promised. Considering I have a lowly point and shoot, the 16X zoom isn’t terrible and thank God for Photoshop. I set up a set on Flickr for all the photos I got.
One thing I noticed about sitting in the 100s is that everyone sitting there is too cool to cheer. What’s up with that? I think if I do this again anytime soon, I’d probably opt for seats higher up, more toward the center of the court.
I also took video. If you’re at work, be forewarned — I was cheering! Heheh.
