Help me celebrate my 40th birthday

Ten years ago, I was inspired to have my 30th birthday/blogiversary party at a homeless shelter. It’s one of my favorite projects ever. The year after, a few of my friends who attended asked if I would be doing it again, but I think I literally just got pregnant when he asked me, heheh. Fast forward 10 years and three boys, and I’d like to do something similar again to usher in my 40th year.

Birthday at the Aquarium of the Pacific

For Mike’s 4th birthday, we decided to visit the Aquarium of the Pacific, where the boys both looked forward to seeing the sharks. I bought the tickets via Goldstar, but realized only the night before that the tickets only allowed us entry in the afternoon, to visit during the last three hours of the day. Bummer — the difference in discount versus the corporate sites I had access to was a measly 50 cents. We had a good time regardless, but I’d pay the extra 50 cents next time so that we could go when we want and stay as long as we want. Ah well, you live and you learn.

End of a vacation

Vacations, no matter how many weeks you take off, are always too short. Maybe a week is way too short, but that’s what we had, and if feels like we hardly got to do any relaxing. That’s really not true, since we decided to “staycation” and had at least two or three days set aside for simply hanging out. Anyway, this week off literally began with my birthday. Yes, it was my birthday. And I’m not afraid to tell the world I turned 33.

I began my celebratory week a day early, taking the day off so I could hang out by myself (Mikey went to daycare), and have lunch with my friend Iliki. We had a lovely lunch at Black Angus in Burbank, and of course, she told the wait staff it was my birthday, so I got the obligatory song and massive cookie topped with vanilla ice cream. It was quite yummy.
