I ran into the annual Love Ride early Sunday morning as Trinity and I were on our way to church. What’s Love Ride? Basically, its an event for Harley-Davidson aficionados to get together, take a long ride, enjoy a concert and benefit a charity — the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Although, I remember in past years, it benefited a variety of charities. Maybe they changed things up. See, the ride starts at Harley-Davidson of Glendale, so for three years, this was a big event in my work as a reporter in Glendale. Anyway, we always seem to run into Love Ride every year. Dude, this year the Foo Fighters played. Awesome.

Gas prices droppin’ it like its hot
Even with gas prices dropping to the low $3 range, I’m still a miser and will still drive out of my way for the cheapest gas possible. For my area, that’s driving to Woodland/West Hills to Fallbrook and Sylvan to fill up at this Arco. However, even being late for work, it seems I should have gotten here just a few minutes later, since they dropped the price from $3.05 to $2.97 right before my eyes.
Dammit!
Cheap gas spotted in Woodland Hills!
Is it sad that I think of $4.25 a gallon as cheap? Yes. Spotted at Topanga Canyon and Victory boulevards.
The year seems kind of pointless
When I was driving home last night, I noticed that the Amber Alert for the boy out of Lake Forest is still in effect and being broadcast on all Southern California freeways. But I noticed the “04” in the message and wondered — why do we include the year in these Amber Alerts?
I mean, think about it — is there really a marked difference between an 03 RV and an 04 RV? If you happened to see a purple and gold RV, are you going to stop and say, “sir…is this an 04?”
I didn’t think so. Maybe we should take the car’s year out of the Amber Alert, unless its a really old car — heck, if we were looking for a truck from the 50s, that might be pretty easy to spot.
I’m just sayin’.
L.A. transit…in a itty bitty package
I got lucky today, paying $4.49 a gallon (*shaking fist* Damn you oil companies for making me think I’m lucky to pay $4.49 a gallon for gas!!!) in West Hills to fill up, but as I made my way to Studio City, I had to snap a photo with my cell phone of this Smart Car. I’m seeing these tiny little cars around more frequently, but I think this is the first time I’ve seen one on a major freeway.
People, the future is here and it is compact.
