Michael’s video debut*

Folks who follow my Twitter may have caught my offhanded tweet about my newest toy — a Flip MinoHD. I figure, you have kids, you gotta get a video camera. Of course, my first love still lies with still photography, but its a cool new toy, and is not too involved. Its super easy to use and is pretty good quality, and shoot, you can’t argue with less than $250. And let’s be real — I’m not going to do much with this footage but post it online, so, overall — win-win.

Of course, this does increase the number of gadgets I have to carry around and lug up and down the stairs everyday — I have to have everything within arm’s reach within a moment’s notice in case Michael does something uber adorable and I have to catch it! But, now, I have a dilemma — still camera? cell phone camera? video camera? What to do!

*I replaced the blip.tv version with one I uploaded to YouTube because YouTube now has HD video. Just bump it up to 720p when you start watching it. Enjoy!

Plus, I have a few new photos to share.

Don’t worry — Michael’s on a strict, breast milk only diet. However, when we broke him out of the NICU (heheh), we were instructed to fortify every other feeding with some formula, for more calories, to fatten him up a little faster. But it doesn’t matter how he’s getting his milk — he usually dozes off, while continuing to suck, about midway through.

Of course, when he does doze off, its just an opportunity to tickle his feet (toesies! toesies!) to wake him up and encourage him to keep sucking.

Now, all new parents know about the sleep admonishments — Back to sleep! Flat on the back! No comforters, blankets, pillows or anything that could suffocate the baby in the crib or bassinet! But when Trinity and I are wide awake, we have no problem letting Michael sleep on the bed or on his side or tummy, which is what happened here. Trinity was watching a Laker game and taking care of Michael when he burrowed himself into our comforter and fell asleep. Trinity called me upstairs to see how he fell asleep, and I of course came bearing my camera and video camera.

Then there’s this photo. This one is probably the oldest of these four pictures, but its my favorite. I believe I had put Michael down to sleep, but he woke up fussing, so I picked him up. He put himself in this pose and I just had to snap a photo with my camera. I texted it to his aunts and uncles with the message, “Pinky, do you know what time it is? Time to take over the world!”

My little plotter. Heheh.
