WordPress workshop worked for me too!

So, after I finished teaching last week’s WordPress Workshop at Cerritos College on Saturday, I was IM’ing back and forth with one of the attendees about buying her domain name and hosting. And since everytime I think of my own domain name when helping people out with their own sites, I checked GoDaddy for my original domain name, darleeneisms.com.

ZOMG IT WAS AVAILABLE!

Now, let me explain what happened with the original domain name.

I’ve written about it before. Long story short, I had bought darleeneisms.com a long time ago, but when I started using a new email address, the domain name renewal notices got lost in the email. They wouldn’t let me have it back until I paid for the past two years on it, I refused, they sold it to someone else who parked it for…let’s see, the last three, nearly four years.

I’d seen it was going to expire in February of this year, but when I checked previously, it appeared as if someone was renewing it to park it again. I was resigned to the fact that I may never get it back, even though no one else really has any use for that domain name other than me. But on Saturday, it was all of a sudden and gloriously free. Woohoo!

And even though I’d spent a week buying stuff — phone stuff, MacBook Pro, laptop stuff — I bought it. It didn’t cost much, of course. But still. I felt kind of bad that I was going to buy a domain name after buying all that stuff. Anyway.

I got darleeneisms.com back! Woohoo!
