The year seems kind of pointless

When I was driving home last night, I noticed that the Amber Alert for the boy out of Lake Forest is still in effect and being broadcast on all Southern California freeways. But I noticed the “04” in the message and wondered — why do we include the year in these Amber Alerts?

I mean, think about it — is there really a marked difference between an 03 RV and an 04 RV? If you happened to see a purple and gold RV, are you going to stop and say, “sir…is this an 04?”

I didn’t think so. Maybe we should take the car’s year out of the Amber Alert, unless its a really old car — heck, if we were looking for a truck from the 50s, that might be pretty easy to spot.

I’m just sayin’.
