First job giver gets out of the biz

I got this news while I was in San Simeon, that the guy who gave me my first job in news just five, six years ago is getting out of news himself.

Former newspaper editor Jeff Keating has been named Executive Director of Public Affairs for Western University of Health Sciences.

Keating comes to the University from a position as deputy managing editor of The Sun of San Bernardino and the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin. He has had a distinguished career in the newspaper business, serving as editor of the Glendale News-Press and Burbank Leader, which are part of the Times Community News division of the Los Angeles Times, and as editor of the Ashland Daily Tidings in southern Oregon.

As Executive Director of Public Affairs, Keating will develop and implement the overall communications strategy for the University, including media outreach, creation of press releases and electronic and print communications. He also will supervise University Advancement employees in communications, publications and special events.

I’m heartbroken. Tear.

What can I say? All I know is he really didn’t like me. I don’t think I have much of an opinion of him. Toodleloo!
