High school reunion time

Joe ConquerorHow sad is it when not only your high school class failed to have a reunion, but so did the two years after your class?

I’ve been getting repeated messages via Myspace about a combined reunion for the classes of 1996, 1997 and 1998. Kind of funny, but also kind of sad. Check it out:

Dear Darleene,

Hi, I’m Joe Moore from the LAHS Class of 1997. As you may have noticed your 10-Year Reunion passed by and never happened. Neither did mine or the class of 1998. I decided when mine didn’t happen to take over the planning of the 15-Year Reunion, and to include the bording years of 1996 and 1998. I have so far gotten almost 150 people to send in their information to me, but only 6 from the class of 1996.

This reunion is going to happen in 2012, which seems like a long ways away, but really it’s only 4 years from now. I would like to get your information in my database, so that when the time comes we can all get together for a big class reunion.

Please take a moment to visit my website and fill in your information. All you have to do is click on the Joe Conqueror head at the bottom, and you’ll see the link to the form.

Thanks for your time!
Joe Moore
Reunion Coordinator

I didn’t include his website or email address, but those are easy enough to find. Anyway, the idea is kind of cool, especially since I had plenty of friends I stayed in contact with from both 1997 and 1998. But committing four years ahead of time to attending a high school reunion I already didn’t want to go to? …I don’t know. We’ll see. Ask me in three years. Besides, hasn’t Myspace been enough of a high school reunion anyway?

Ugh! High School reunions! I was grateful to have an awesome excuse for not attending my last one; “Sorry, I’m playing at the Hollywood Bowl that night.”
