Inside Higher Ed has this story about alternative college presses are using the web to their advantage. They’re doing podcasts. They’re going beyond the campus — even branching into celebrity babies. And they’re doing it on super tight budgets.

I know, I know — if you go online only, no one will read your stuff on campus. Well? That’s their bad. A large purpose of a student-run newspaper is journalism training for the students who run the newspaper. And you know what? Times are a changing.

If you can find a way to thrive in this new, Wild West-type, online world, you will definitely find a job after college. And trust me — that will be the best product you can produce, in the long run.
