Acting like a professor

Are colleges really that hard up for teaching professionals that they must turn to Hollywood for professors? Crikey.

Turns out Kal Penn of Harold and Kumar fame will be a guest professor at the University of Pennsylvania in the fall of 2008. What’ll he teach? How to get to White Castle? No, no. He’ll be teaching two undergraduate courses tentatively titled ‚ÄúImages of Asian Americans in the Media‚Äù and ‚ÄúContemporary American Teen Films.‚Äù

Man. If Kal Penn can teach Asian American studies, I would be a shoo in. Anyone need an Asian American studies professor? I’m available Monday through Friday in the mornings before 2 p.m.

Incidentally, after realizing how much I blog about race, I think it would be a natural progression for me to get a master’s and possibly a Ph.D in ethnic studies. I’ve been looking around at some of the local graduate programs, but this question comes to mind – why the heck does USC require its graduate students to know another language? Does HTML count? Sheesh.

I guess, unless I find another university that has a similar program, I’ll just continue in journalism and blogging.
