Write me back!

I was searching for some old notebooks of mine, so I collected some old boxes from my mom’s house. I didn’t find my notebooks – which I used as journals in junior high and high school – but, oh, I found so much more. I found a treasure trove of old photos, keepsakes, CDs (I didn’t even remember I used to have freakin’ Del the Funky Homosapien), birthday cards, notes and letters from a variety of people – aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, pen pals, cousins, girlfriends and boyfriends. The funniest thing? Most of the cards, notes (girls, remember when we used to find all sorts of ways to fold our notes? Man!) and letters say a whole lot of nothing. Seriously. I can summarize about 80% of the contents right here:

“What’s up? Nothing much with me. Anyways!”

“Oh my gosh, I was so bored.”

“You owe me a letter!”

“So do you still like [insert a variety of crushes’ names]? I love [insert crush name]!”

I’m totally serious. Oh, and I didn’t even bother reading through any of my old pen pal letters – those said even less than nothing.

The other thing I noticed? A huge variety and collection of Sanrio stationery. My favorite back in the day was Keroppi, but most of my friends seemed to prefer Pochacco back then. Man, if I’d kept any complete stationery sets, I probably could make a fortune selling them on eBay.
