My first big June event – my old friend Cathy‘s wedding – is now over and done with. I decorated the bad boy, got all dolled up, played bridesmaid (“Girls! I need to be bustled!”), nearly crippled myself with my silver shoes, etc. All that heartache and whining and complaining (and that was just me) is over and done with; Cathy had a truly beautiful and touching wedding ceremony that I sniffled my way through. Yes. I sniffled my way through her ceremony, shedding more tears than for my own wedding. Above, is a photo I took as the photographers and videographers were in a frenzy as Cathy’s mom put her necklace on her. I love this photo. LOL, I am dope for catching this photo!
Speaking of dope photographers, Trinity’s not so bad himself. I had to hand off the camera to him when I had to go do my bridesmaid thing for the actual ceremony. He was sitting near the back, but still managed to catch this photo – which I cropped close, as you can tell from the slight blurriness. But what great timing!
But whether I looked good or not was irrelevant. It was Cathy’s day and she looked amazingly beautiful. The whole day was touching, with her dad running around, grinning happily at everyone as he ran little errands for the wedding; her mom greeting everyone so sweetly; even her younger brother, Michael, made a speech about how he learned to respect Mike (now his brother in law, both are Michael Lee!) and how happy he was that Mike stands up for Cathy. It was so sweet!
I’ll write a Wedding Decorator post sometime Sunday evening; I was just too tired by the end of the day to do a full on post about it. I mean, dude – my day began at 4:15 a.m., where I rushed to Koreatown for makeup and hair, where I rushed back home to pickup my stuff and Trinity, where we rushed to the Ritz Carlton to finish decorating. From there, it was endless treks to and from photography sessions, rooms, suites, ballrooms, gardens – in two-inch heels, and let me remind you – I usually just wear flip flops. So by the time I got home, I had a headache, I felt lightheaded, my feet were out of commission and the fake eyelashes (bleccch) that the makeup girl put on me were coming off already. I managed to take a bath and a shower, pull all the bobby pins out of my hair and scrub my face. But when I tried to sit with Trin on the couch to watch a movie, I couldn’t do it. I had to go take a nap in the bedroom at about 6 p.m. and ended up waking up at about 10.
Anyway, when I said one down, one to go, it could be for two things, I realize now. I could’ve said it in terms of weddings – Cathy’s in June, Janet‘s in August. But I actually meant to say it for the month of June – Cathy’s wedding was the first big event, and going to Hawaii (!!!!!!!!!!) will be the second. Dude! Less than 10! days! to! go!!!
